Multimedia video controller [0400]: Conexant Systems, Inc. CX23880/1/2/3

Michael Wittke
Dear readers,

I try to get my tv tuner card running, as there is no support until now
by v4l.

$ lspci -nnv -d 14f1:*

        Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 20

I modified cxx88-cards.c and cxx88.h by adding the subvendor's id etc.:

[CX88_BOARD_CONEXSYS] = {
       .name           = "Conexant Systems",
           .tuner_type     = TUNER_XC2028,
           .radio_type     = TUNER_XC2028,
           .tuner_addr     = 0x61,
           .radio_addr     = 0x61,
       .input          = {{
           .type   = CX88_VMUX_TELEVISION,
           .vmux   = 0,
       },{
           .type   = CX88_VMUX_COMPOSITE1,
           .vmux   = 2,
       },{
           .type   = CX88_VMUX_SVIDEO,
           .vmux   = 2,
       }},
       .mpeg           = CX88_MPEG_BLACKBIRD  //with this I get a video1
device as well but no firmeware is loaded
       //.mpeg           = CX88_MPEG_DVB,
        // I tried without the .mpeg setting as well
   },

The dmesg command says the following stuff:

Channels are detected as well:
scantv -a -c /dev/video0 -C /dev/vbi0
e.g. ivtv-tune -c 7 for analog cable tv in germany

But if I try a cat /dev/video0 there are only coloured pixels being
captured.
I think it is a fine-tuning problem.

Can anybody tell me, if I used the right tuner parameters?
I would appreciate any help, because my knowlegde is definitly
restricted in this area.

Best regards
Michael

Hi Michael,

I just started using TVHeadend and ran into this same issue.  Where are the cx88 files located within the ubuntu structure?  Do I need any specific software (or other) to be able to edit these files?  Thank you!

:) PRKid

From my lspci I get the following.... (when I try dmesg it's blank)
